Your engagement session is such a fun and memorable part of the wedding journey and one of my favorite kinds of sessions to document! Not only do we get to capture the excitement and love you two share but it’s also a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day!

One of the most common questions I get is "What should we wear?" So let’s break it down and make sure you’re feeling confident, comfortable, and totally you for your engagement session!

Two Looks = Double the Fun

I always encourage my couples to bring two outfits for their session and it’s included in all my engagement sessions!

Most couples choose to bring:

One casual outfit (think relaxed, cozy, playful)
One dressier outfit (think elevated, romantic, timeless)

This gives you a great variety of images and also allows you to express different sides of your relationship fun, laid back and elegant and refined.

Casual Outfit Tips

Think effortless and put together

For her:

Flowing maxi dresses, fitted jeans with a cute blouse, or a cozy sweater in cooler months
Neutral or soft colors photograph beautifully
Comfortable shoes or even barefoot

For him:

Fitted jeans paired with a solid or subtly patterned shirt
Layers like jackets or flannels work great in fall or winter
Avoid large logos or athletic wear

You should feel like yourselves on a great day out together. (Definitely go on a cute date after the session as well since you’re already dressed up!)

Dressy Outfit Tips

Your second look is the time to elevate your style, think of it as a fun date night or even a red carpet moment!

For her:

A long, flowy dress or jumpsuit in a solid color or soft pattern
Statement earrings or accessories, and heels or flats

For him:

Dress pants with a button down shirt, or a collard shirt
Loafers or nice dress shoes

Dressing up adds a touch of elegance to your photos and really makes them stand out!

Color & Coordination Tips

Stick to complementary colors, not matching
Avoid super bright neons, busy patterns, or anything that distracts from your faces
Dress for your location & season, I’m happy to help suggest what fits best if we’re shooting in the desert, beach, mountains, or open field!
