West Coast Elopement Photographer
I’m so glad that you’re here! If you’re thinking about an adventurous, intentional wedding day surrounded by stunning landscapes, having a West Coast elopement might be exactly what you’re looking for. As a West Coast elopement photographer, I get to document couples in some of the most beautiful places in the country!
From the coasts of California and Oregon to the Desert Southwest of Utah and Arizona, the West is filled with locations straight out of a storybook. If you’re dreaming of an intimate ceremony overlooking the ocean, hiking through a national park at sunrise, or exchanging vows surrounded by canyon walls, there are endless ways to create an experience that feels true to you.
Let’s dive into some of my favorite places for a West Coast elopement and why each one is so special.

Best Places to Elope from a West Coast Elopement Photographer
Zion
- Towering sandstone canyon walls in red and orange tones
- Narrow canyons, winding roads, and lush scenery
- Scenic overlooks showcasing the layered cliffs
- Desert terrain mixed with greenery
Spring and fall are beautiful in Zion with warmer temperatures and vibrant colors throughout the park. Summer brings long (hot) days for exploring while winter can dust the cliffs with snow and is pretty quiet and private.
If you’re dreaming of adventurous red rock scenery and iconic canyon views, Zion is such an incredible place to elope.
Moab
- Deep red rock formations, arches, and rugged desert terrain
- Wide open landscapes with dramatic mesas and buttes
- Unique rock textures shaped by wind and time
- Expansive skies with beautiful sunset views
Moab is gorgeous year round but spring and fall typically have the most comfortable weather for exploring. Summer can be very hot in Moab, but sunrise and sunset ceremonies can still make for such a beautiful experience. Winter brings a quieter landscape and occasional snow.
If Moab is calling your name check out my Arches National Park Elopement blog to get you dreaming even more!

Yosemite
- Massive granite cliffs and iconic rock formations
- Waterfalls cascading down rock faces
- Open meadows surrounded by the mountains and trees
- Rivers and water throughout the valley
Spring in Yosemite is known for its waterfalls and lush greenery, while summer opens access to more areas throughout the park, especially areas with higher elevations. Fall brings golden tones and fewer crowds and winter transforms Yosemite into a peaceful snowy landscape but can have many possible closures.
Oregon Coast
- Long and dramatic shoreline
- Sea stacks, misty forests, and windswept beauty
- Misty, foggy, and windy creating a moody atmosphere
The Oregon Coast is beautiful during every season. Summer brings in clearer skies and warmer weather. Fall and winter create the moodier coastal atmosphere the area is known for. Spring brings pretty greenery and softer coastal fog.
Death Valley
- Vast desert landscapes with endless textures
- Salt flats, sand dunes, and rugged mountain views
- Unique scenery that feels otherworldly
The best time for a Death Valley elopement is during the cooler months for sure, so late fall – early spring.
If you’re considering a desert elopement, I photographed a Death Valley couples session that perfectly shows how magical these landscapes feel at sunset.

Big Sur
- Dramatic cliffs overlooking the ocean
- Rugged coastline with crashing waves below
- Scenic highwater views winding along the cliffs
Big Sur is beautiful year round. Spring and summer typically bring clearer weather and fall brings warmer temps and glowing sunsets. Foggy mornings throughout the year add such a dreamy haze.
Horseshoe Bend
- Scenic overlook of the iconic U-shaped bend in the Colorado River
- Stunning red rocks
- Wide open desert views overlooking the canyon below
Spring and fall are definitely ideal for Horseshoe Bend with comfortable temperatures and beautiful lighting. Summer brings vibrant sunsets and glowing red rocks while winter offers quieter overlooks and softer golden tones.
